history

During the Thirty Years' War , a chapel where the Hoofer Protestants held their services was destroyed. The destroyed chapel was only rebuilt in 1717. This had to be closed by the police in 1841 because it had become dilapidated . From now on, the services were to be held in the Hoofer schoolhouse, but this was rejected by the congregation. Therefore it was decided to build a new church building. The new church was built in the years 1852 to 1853, with the construction costs of 1761 guilders being borne almost entirely by the community's funds. The inauguration of the completed church took place on April 24, 1853 .

Church building

The Protestant church in Hoof is a hall church in the style of historicism , with particular reference to neo-Romanesque forms. The church building is divided into a tower , nave and choir . In the two side walls of the nave there are three arched windows directly next to each other . There is a circular window in the rear wall of the choir room.

Inside the church, a triumphal arch separates the choir with altar , pulpit and baptismal font from the nave. The pulpit, to which a staircase with a wooden railing leads up, is attached to the rear wall of the choir center above the altar. There is a round window above the sound cover of the pulpit. In the nave there are two blocks of pews , which are separated by a central aisle that leads in a straight line from the entrance portal to the altar. Above the entrance portal, a wooden gallery , to which a spiral staircase leads up, takes up the entire width of the nave . The nave is closed at the top by a coffered ceiling .
