FEI Nations Cup 2014 (dressage riding)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The FEI Nations Cup 2014 in dressage (2014 FEI Nations Cup ™ Dressage) is the second season of the Nations Cup for dressage riders .

Course of the tournament series

After the pilot season with four Nations Cups took place in Europe last year, the 2014 season was expanded to include two stations, one of which is in North America. The tournaments are advertised as CDIO 3 * or CDIO 5 *. At the European stations, the Grand Prix de Dressage or the Grand Prix Spécial are valued as a special test ; a different mode was used at the North American Nations Cup tournament.

The tournaments will take place from February 18 to August 3, 2014. Points are awarded on the basis of the placement, in CDIO 5 * tournaments more evaluation points are awarded than in 3 * tournaments.

The exams

1st test: United States

The 2014 season began with a pilot project: unlike in the other stages, the riders in Wellington , Florida not only competed at Grand Prix level to determine the winner of the Nations Cup. Instead, could the riders in the Grand Prix de Dressage either and in the Grand Prix Spécial or in the Prix St. Georges and the Intermediaire I go to the start. In order to take into account the difference in difficulty, the results of the Grand Prix Tour were increased by a factor of 1.5 percent per rider.

These regulations were first used in Wellington last year, but at that time they did not count for the Nations Cup series. With these regulations it should be possible for other American teams besides Canada and the United States to participate in the Nations Cup. However, this only benefited Colombia. The other participating nations would have had enough couples who are active at Grand Prix level, but were mostly at the start with riders in the small tour.

The CDIO 3 * tournament in Wellington took place from February 18-23, 2014.

2nd test: France

The French stage of the Nations Cup for dressage riders took place again in Vidauban in the south of France . The CDIO 3 * was held on the facility of the dressage and former show jumper Bernadette Brune.

The tournament took place much earlier than last year, it was held in May from February 26th to March 3rd. It took place one week before the World Dressage Masters tournament at the same place, which had a stronger field than the Nations Cup tournament. In the Nations Cup, none of the participating countries started with their strongest pair. The Netherlands won the Nations Cup, with a trio of men at the start.

3rd test: Netherlands

The Dutch dressage Nations Cup is traditionally held at the CHIO Rotterdam . The tournament, at which the show jumpers also host their Dutch Nations Cup, took place from June 18 to 22, 2014. It was advertised as CDIO 5 * for the dressage riders.

The Nations Cup was held as part of the Grand Prix de Dressage, which took place in the morning and noon of the tournament Thursday. In front of the home crowd, the Dutch team dominated, with the best line-up at the start. The team's average score was almost 80 percent. Denmark and Sweden followed clearly behind. The British team, which, unlike the previous year, had to do without Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester , came fourth. While German riders were successful in the U25 tour of the tournament, Germany did not provide a team for the Nations Cup.

6. Examination: United Kingdom

As part of the Royal International Horse Show in Hickstead , Dressage at Hickstead , the British Nations Cup for dressage riders, took place from July 31 to August 3, 2014 . It was advertised as CDIO 3 *. As in the previous year, the last stage of the Nations Cup was held here.

Once again, the announcement of the Nations Cup differed from the other stages of the tournament series: after the Grand Prix Freestyle was the special test in 2013, the decision was made for 2014 to add the results of two tests. The teams had to compete in the Grand Prix de Dressage on July 31st and in the Grand Prix Spécial on August 2nd. The team results then emerged from the result of these two tests.

Overall rating

As in the previous year, overall victory went to the Netherlands. The performers of the Dutch team included Adelinde Cornelissen and her gelding Parzival , whose first tournaments after a nine-month break were among other things at two Nations Cup tournaments. Just behind, in second place, came Sweden. As in the previous year, the German team only came fourth. In the 2014 season, apart from the domestic Nations Cup in Aachen, Germany did not send any A or B riders to the Nations Cup stations.
