Scott Feinberg of The Hollywood Reporter thinks James Newton Howard's score is Oscar-worthy. In December 2016, the soundtrack was included in the list of candidates (longlist) at the Academy Awards 2017 in the category Best Film Music , from which the members of the Academy will determine the official nominations. The song Blind Pig included on the soundtrack was included in the longlist for Best Movie Song . In February 2017, Howard's work was recognized as part of the 2016 International Film Music Critics Association Awards in the categories of Best Film Music of the Year and Best Music for a Fantasy, Science Fiction or Horror Film.

The soundtrack went on 25 November 2016 5th in the soundtrack album charts in the UK and number 81 in the local download album charts. In the United States, the soundtrack also debuted at number 5 on the Soundtrack album charts and at number 192 on the Billboard 200 album charts .
