Quidditch Through the Ages (original Quidditch Through the Ages ) is a fictional book in the Harry Potter novels of British author JK Rowling is mentioned. The author published it in 2001 in real life at Bloomsbury-Verlag .

Fictional book

The fictional book by the author Kennilworthy Whisp is mentioned for the first time in " Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone ": There it can be found in the inventory of the Hogwarts library .

Real book

The real, 64-page book by Joanne K. Rowling from 2001 is based on the novel and was therefore published under the pseudonym Kennilworthy Whisp . The cover of the book (the hardcover) looks like it is old and worn. As for all other German-language Harry Potter volumes, Klaus Fritz provided the translation, Sabine Wilharm designed the cover. The British original edition was published by Bloomsbury-Verlag , the German by Carlsen Verlag , whereby in both cases reference is made to the collaboration with the fictitious publisher WhizzHard Books , which is based at 129b Diagon Alley in London.

In addition to “Quidditch through the ages”, the author has published two other real versions of the fictional books “ The Fairy Tales of Beedle the Bard ” and “ Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them ”. In the case of “Quidditch through the ages” and “Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them”, the author, publisher and editor (in German also the translator) waived their remuneration. The sales of all books went to aid organizations such as Comic Relief and Rowling's Children's High Level Group .

The book deals with the fictional sport of Quidditch , which is played by wizards and witches on flying brooms. The development of the flying broom is described and earlier broom games are reported. One gains an insight into the development of Quidditch and its further development over the centuries. It also features famous Quidditch teams from Great Britain and Ireland .

The foreword to the book is from Albus Dumbledore's pen.
