Farnborough International Airshow
The Farnborough International Airshow is an international exhibition of aviation and aerospace . It takes place at Farnborough Airfield near Farnborough (Hampshire) in the United Kingdom every even year at the end of July and alternates with the Paris Air Show . The air show competes with the International Aerospace Exhibition in Berlin a few months earlier .
It is one of the most important aviation trade shows in the world. Some manufacturers try to get as many aircraft orders as possible, especially at the aviation fair, in order to be able to announce them in the media. Occasionally they also delay the publication of orders until the date of a trade fair.
44. Farnborough 2004
The fair took place from July 19th to 25th.
45. Farnborough 2006
Farnborough recorded over 130,000 visitors, over 1,480 exhibitors and over a hundred aircraft on display from July 17th to 23rd.
Among other things, Airbus showed the A380 in flight demonstrations and announced 163 orders and purchase commitments - including for the revised A350 XWB - as well as 77 options. As usual, Boeing held back with flight demonstrations and reported 79 orders and commitments as well as three options for commercial aircraft (including the 747-8 ). However, the success of Airbus with the orders must be seen against the background of the order situation of the current year, in which Boeing was in the lead until after the air show.
46. Farnborough 2008
The following orders and preliminary contracts were concluded between the five major aircraft manufacturers and airlines between July 14 and 20, 2008:
