Fatehgarh Sahib ( Hindi : फतेहगढ़ साहिब जिला) is a district in the Indian state of Punjab .
The district was established on April 13, 1992. It is located 50 km southeast of the city of Ludhiana in the north Indian plain. The district is dominated by agriculture . It covers an area of 1147.79 km² (according to other information 1180 km²). The district administration is in Fatehgarh Sahib , which has merged with Sirhind to form the city of Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib .
