Federico Marcello Lante della Rovere , Federico Marcello Lante for short , full name Federico Marcello Lante Montefeltro della Rovere (born April 18, 1695 in Rome , † March 3, 1773 ibid) was an urban Roman clergyman and cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

Early years

He was the son of Antonio Lante , 2nd Duke of Bomarzo, and his wife Louise Angelique Charlotte de La Tremouille from the house of the Dukes of Noirmoutier . His uncle was Cardinal Joseph-Emmanuel de La Trémoille (1706), his great-uncle Cardinal Marcello Lante (1606).

He completed his studies first at the Seminario Romano , which was led by Jesuits , and later at the University of La Sapienza in Rome, where he received his doctorate on September 23, 1719 as Doctor iuris utriusque .

He was on December 7, 1719 trainee lawyer at the courts of the Apostolic Signature and house prelate of Pope Clement XI. On May 5, 1728 he became governor of the city and port of Ancona , where he befriended Prospero Lorenzo Cardinal Lambertini, later Pope Benedict XIV .

Church career

The minor orders received Federico Marcello Lante on 11 December 1728, the ordination as subdeacon on December 18 in 1728 and the diaconate on December 21, 1728. On December 25, 1728, he became ordained priest .

He was appointed titular archbishop of Petra in Palestine on October 1, 1732 . He received his episcopal ordination on October 19, 1732 in the Cathedral of Urbino by the Cardinal Bishop of Sabina , Annibale Albani ; Co- consecrators were Eustachio Palma , Bishop of Fossombrone , and Bartolomeo Castelli , Bishop of Senigallia .

For Cardinal Priest Federico Marcello Lante della Rovere was created in the consistory of September 9, 1743 and received on April 5, 1745 titular church San Pancrazio assigned. From 1744 he was Commendatar Abbot of Farfa . From January 29, 1753 to January 14, 1754 he was chamberlain of the Holy College of Cardinals . Death and burial

Federico Marcello Lante della Rovere died on March 3, 1773 in Rome of a severe fever after receiving the sacraments . His grave is in a family vault in the Church of San Nicola da Tolentino in Rome.
