Felix Khonde Mambimbi (born January 18, 2001 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) is a Swiss football player who is under contract with the first division club BSC Young Boys . The flexible offensive player has been a Swiss U19 national player since September 2019 .

Career

Mambimbi, who grew up in the Freiburg district of Schönberg , began playing football at the local FC Schönberg. In his earliest childhood he emulated Joaquim Adão , who was over eight years older and who also grew up in this environment. He joined the youth department of BSC Young Boys from Bern in 2014 through the AFF team . In 2017 he played for the U17 team of the Young Boys in the Swiss U17 Elite League for the first time. In the following season 2017/18 he played games for the U18s and later also for the U21s in the fourth-highest Swiss division . He already spent the following season 2018/19 with the U21s, but was also with the first team in the matchday squad at league games five times . He made his debut in the top Swiss league on February 17, 2019 (21st match day) in a 2-0 home win against FC Zurich , when he came on for Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu in the 89th minute . In the remaining season he was used in another league game and scored two goals in 21 league appearances of the U21 as a winger .

For the 2019/20 season he was promoted to the first team squad, but initially continued to play for the U21s . In August 2019, he scored ten goals in the first four U21 league games, including a five-pack in the 8-3 home win against FC Martigny-Sports . On September 10, 2019, his contract with the Young Boys was extended to June 2022. In the first team, he succeeded in jumping into the rotation of head coach Gerardo Seoane . On October 19, 2019 (11th match day) he scored his first league goal in a 4-1 home win against Neuchâtel Xamax .

National team

Felix Mambimbi played five friendly international matches for the Swiss U15 national team from September 2015 to May 2016 . From September 2016 to May 2017 he played nine times for the U16s and scored one goal in these games.

Mambimbi has been playing for the U17s since August 2017 . In May 2018 he took part in the U17 European Championship in England . In the second group game against Israel he contributed two goals to the 3-0 win and in the 1-0 win against hosts England in the third group game he scored again. Despite two wins, they did not make it to the final round and Switzerland was eliminated in third place. With the end of this tournament, Mambimbi's career in the U17 ended with five goals in 12 appearances.

He has been a Swiss U19 national player since September 2019 .
