Fabian Lustenberger (born May 2, 1988 in Wolhusen ) is a Swiss football player . He is under contract with BSC Young Boys .
Club career
FC Luzern
In his first season (2005/06) for FC Luzern under coach Ciriaco Sforza , Lustenberger increasingly got his trust, gained a regular place in the attacking midfield by the half of the season and became an important part of the young Lucerne team.
Hertha BSC
In August 2007 he moved to Hertha BSC in the German Bundesliga for 1.5 million euros . He played his first Bundesliga game on August 18, 2007 in a 3-1 win against VfB Stuttgart , his last in a 5-1 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen on May 18, 2019. On December 9, 2007, he scored in a 2-1 defeat his first Bundesliga goal at 1. FC Nürnberg . From 2013 to 2016 he was the captain of the Old Lady. His greatest successes with Hertha BSC were the second division championships 2010/11, 2012/13 and participation in the international competition (20 games) in 2008/09, 2009/10, 2016/17 and 2017/18. He played 271 first and second division games in twelve years, scoring four goals. After the 2018/19 Bundesliga season , he left the club as the longest-serving professional and moved back home. There he joined the BSC Young Boys .
BSC Young Boys
Before the 2019/20 season , Lustenberger was appointed captain. At the end of the season he was able to celebrate the championship title.
In the national team
On June 25, 2011, he became vice European champion with the Swiss U21 national team .
On November 15, 2013 he made his debut under Ottmar Hitzfeld for the Swiss national team in a friendly against South Korea .
Personal
His brother Simon is a former soccer player. He is not related to the professional player of FC Luzern, Claudio Lustenberger .
On May 31, 2013, Lustenberger married his Brandenburg girlfriend Monique on the Pfingstberg in Potsdam , a candidate for the first season of summer girls on ProSieben . He has two sons and a daughter with her.
