Ferdinand Schwarz (musician)

Ferdinand Schwarz (born August 28, 1997 in Cologne ) is a German jazz musician ( trumpet ).

Live and act

Schwarz grew up in Cologne-Sülz and received trumpet lessons from the age of seven. He spent his school days at the Schiller Gymnasium in Cologne , where he successfully took part in music competitions. There he took part in the school program "Schiller musiziert". Since 2016 he has been studying jazz trumpet at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Andy Haderer , Hubert Nuss , Niels Klein and Florian Ross . In 2018 he received the Germany Scholarship .

Since 2014 he has accompanied the band AnnenMayKantereit as a permanent guest musician on tours. He has also appeared in bands such as Milky Chance , Giant Rooks , Von Wegen Lisbeth , Junius Meyvant and Goldroger . He belongs to the improvising jazz / hip-hop group Bokoya and the Wels quintet, founded in 2016 . Between 2017 and 2018 he was a member of the NRW Youth Jazz Orchestra and currently plays in the Federal Jazz Orchestra .

So far, concerts have taken him to the USA, Canada, Israel, the Balkans, England, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands. He worked and played with musicians such as Robert Landfermann and Stefan Karl-Schmidt Leif Berger , Riaz Khabirpour and made guest appearances at the Viersen Jazz Festival .

Prizes and awards

His duo with the pianist Darius Heid was awarded the Deutschlandfunk Prize and the UDJ Sponsorship Prize at the “ Jugend Jazzt ” competition in 2016 , and Schwarz also received a soloist prize.
