Fernando Ugarte (born January 11, 1983 ) is a Mexican ice hockey player and coach who has been under contract with the Mexican club San Jeronimo again since 2013 .

Career

Fernando Ugarte began his career as a hockey player with San Jeronimo. When the semi-professional league Mexicana Elite was founded in 2010 , he moved to the Teotihuacan Priests , one of the four founding clubs of the league, with which he immediately became Mexican champions. In 2013 he returned to San Jeronimo.

International

In the junior division Ugarte played with the Mexican U-20 team at the World Championships in Division III in 2001 and 2002 and in Division II in 2003 .

With the men's national team , Ugarte took part in the World Championships of Division II in 2003 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , when he was named the best player of his team, in 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 as well as the Division III participated in 2004 and 2005 . In 2002 he played with the Mexican team in the qualifying tournament for Division II. Since 2010 he has been the captain of the Mexican national team.

In addition, he was in the Olympic qualifications for the Games in Vancouver 2010 , Sochi 2014 and Pyeangchang 2018 , in which the Mexican team was eliminated in the pre-qualification, and the Pan-American ice hockey tournament in 2014 , in which he and his team were second Ranked on the ice.

At the 2014 Women's World Cup , he was the assistant coach for the Mexican women . Three years later he was the assistant coach of the Mexican youth at the U20 World Cup in Division II .
