Roßlach is part of the municipality of Wilhelmsthal in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria .

geography

The place is located ten km northeast of Kronach along a plateau of the Franconian Forest at an altitude of around 500  m above sea level. NHN . Roßlach is a scattered settlement that consists of many individual small settlement units, some with just one property or several properties. The individual settlement bodies are located on smaller, earlier field paths, which then end in smaller clearing islands in the forest or on high points. There is no larger settlement core with a central function, a village square or the like.

history

Roßlach emerged in the early modern period as a scattered settlement during the planned settlement of the high elevations of the Franconian Forest. The origins lie more in timber and forest management and only to a lesser extent in agriculture. Due to the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss in 1803, the place, together with the remaining areas of the Bamberg monastery, became the property of the Electorate of Bavaria . 1862 by the was community edicts created rural community Roßlach in the newly created Bavarian district office Kronach incorporated. It consisted of eight places, the village Roßlach, the two hamlets Remschlitz and winter Leithen and the five deserts oak Leithen, primary granulator, Kotschersgrund, Ludwig country and Redwitzerhöh.

In 1871 the village had 71 inhabitants. The Catholic Church and the Catholic Denominational School were four kilometers away in Friesen . In 1900 the 458-acre rural community had 159 residents, all of whom were Catholic, and 30 residential buildings. The wasteland Grundschneidmühle was no longer a district. The new district became the wasteland of Finkenflug, which previously belonged to the rural community of Geuser . The main town had 63 residents and 11 residential buildings. In 1925, 71 people lived in 11 residential buildings in Roßlach. The responsible Protestant parish was in Kronach .

In 1950 the community Roßlach had 221 inhabitants and the main town 80 inhabitants with 14 residential buildings. In 1970 the wasteland Finkenflug was uninhabited. The village of Roßlach had 89 residents and 85 residents as well as 19 residential buildings with 24 apartments in 1987.

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the community of Roßlach was incorporated into Steinberg on January 1, 1978 . On May 1, 1978, Steinberg was incorporated into Wilhelmsthal. The wasteland of Finkenflug ( ) was canceled.

Attractions

The Lady Chapel was consecrated on May 3, 1951, an Ascension Day, after two years of construction.
