The Squadron 10 was most recently with fighter aircraft of the type Dassault Mirage III equipped RS squadron of the Swiss Air Force with professional military pilots who for monitoring squadron belonged. Their home base at the time of the dissolution was the Buochs ​​military airfield . The Fliegerstaffel 10 wore the AMIR badge (AMIR = reconnaissance mirage) as a coat of arms . This badge shows a hawk's head drawn with black lines on a white background, the neck of which is filled with blue paint. The beak protrudes over the round badge, above the falcon's head is the red number 10. Except for the number 10, the badge is identical to the AMIR badge of Fliegerstaffel 3 and Fliegerstaffel 4 (these had a number 3 or 4 instead of 10 in badge).

Fliegerkompanie 10 was founded in 1935. From 1938 to 1940 the Fliegerkompanie 10 used the Fokker CV. August 27, 1938 became the blackest day in the history of Fliegerstaffel 10. Five Fokker CV aircraft got into bad weather on the way from Dübendorf to Lugano in the Muotatal, only one found its way out again. The other four smashed against the cliffs of the Heuberge, and seven crew members perished.

From 1940 to 1942 the squadron used C-35 aircraft, and from 1942 to 1952 the squadron used C-3603 aircraft. From 1952 to 1954 the Fliegerstaffel 10 used the D-3801 Morane.

Then in 1954 the change to the De Havilland Venom DH-112 Mk1 R jet aircraft took place, this aircraft type remained in service with this squadron until 1967. In 1956 the aerial reconnaissance formation was finally founded. The aerial reconnaissance formation used a DH-100 Vampire, six C-3603 and six P-51D Mustangs, all of which were equipped with cameras.

In 1963 the reconnaissance squadron 10 was formally founded, all previous aircraft were replaced by De Havilland DH.112 Mk. 1 R Venoms. The aircraft were optimized for aerial reconnaissance and remained in service until 1967. From 1968 the Fliegerstaffel 10 operated the Mach 2 fast reconnaissance aircraft Mirage IIIRS AMIR. The home base was the Buochs ​​military airfield . In 2000, reconnaissance squadron 4 was dissolved or integrated into reconnaissance squadron 10. In 2002 the reconnaissance squadron 3 was dissolved and integrated into the reconnaissance squadron 10.

In 2003 the Fliegerstaffel 10 at the Buochs ​​military airfield was disbanded after the last WWII. For this occasion, the two machines, R-2110 and R-2116, were given a black-and-white paint job of the same opposite, with the AMIR falcon, the black and white colors symbolize the razor-sharp black / white photos that these reconnaissance machines took on their missions. On December 17, 2003, the last landing of the Mirage IIIRS R-2118 in Dübendorf by the pilot Markus "Zurigo" Zürcher, the commander of the Fliegerstaffel 10, marked the end of the Fliegerstaffel 10. The aircraft was sold to the Flieger-Flab on this occasion -Museum in Dübendorf.
