history

Fliegerkompanie 3 was founded in the Second World War with Dewoitine D-27 aircraft. These were replaced by C-3603 in 1944, which remained in service with the squadron until 1952. In 1945, during a reorganization, the flying personnel of Fliegerkompanie 3 was reallocated to the newly created Fliegerstaffel 3. From 1952 to 1954, the Fliegerstaffel deployed 3 Morane D-3800 and Morane D-3801 aircraft. From 1954 to 1980 the Fliegerstaffel 3 was equipped with De Havilland DH.112 Venom. In 1980 they were retrained to the Hawker Hunter and the Ambri military airfield became the home base of Fliegerstaffel 3. Fliegerstaffel 3 gave up the Hawker Hunter in 1991 and was temporarily dissolved. In 1992 the name was changed to Reconnaissance Squadron 3. Mirage IIIRS were used and the new home base was the Sion military airfield. During this time, the relay badge also changed to the AMIR badge. The original badge was a red isosceles triangle with a white outer edge. In this badge was the head of a white bulldog with a black spot over the right eye and a black collar. Underneath it was 3ème ESCADRILLE in black letters. This badge was followed by a round blue badge with a yellow outer edge, showing a flying yellow goose and a yellow number 3 in the upper right part of the badge. This was replaced by the already mentioned AMIR badge. In 2002 the reconnaissance squadron 3 was dissolved or integrated into the reconnaissance squadron 10 .
