The Squadron 21 was most recently with Hawker Hunter fighter aircraft equipped squadron of the Swiss Air Force . Their home base during the dissolution was the Raron military airfield . It was founded in 1936 under the name Fliegerkompanie 21, and from its foundation until 1938, Dewoitine D-27 aircraft were used. From 1939 to 1945 the Aviation Company Messerschmitt Me 109 E used, the home base was the Dübendorf military airfield . However, the FlKp21 was stationed in Buochs (1942) and Payerne (1943) during the war . In 1945 the name was changed to Fliegerstaffel 21. From 1945 to 1948 the Morane D-3801 was used in Fliegerstaffel 21. This was followed by the P-51 Mustang from 1948 to 1958. The transition to the first jet aircraft of Fliegerstaffel 21, the De Havilland DH.100 Vampire, took place in 1956. The Vampire remained with the squadron until 1957 and was then replaced by the De Havilland DH.112 Mk.4 Venom. The De Havilland DH.112 Mk 4 Venom was with the Fliegerstaffel 21 until 1960. The Buochs ​​military airfield became the new home base in 1959 and in 1959 the Hawker Hunter began to be introduced in the Fliegerstaffel 21 . In 1968 Turtmann became the new home airfield of the 21st squadron. However, this changed again in 1982 and the Raron military airfield became the new home base. This remained the location of Fliegerstaffel 21 until it was disbanded in 1993. There is a gap in the Fliegerstaffel after Fliegerstaffel 21. The Swiss Air Force had 22 squadrons, but there was never a squadron of 22 and a squadron of 23. The 22nd season was called Fliegerstaffel 24 . The Swiss Air Force was supposed to appear larger than it was during the Second World War.
