Fliegerstaffel 7
The squadron 7 was at its dissolution in 1994 Hawker Hunter fighter aircraft equipped squadron of the Swiss Air Force . Their home base at that time was the Meiringen military airfield . The squadron 7 was wearing a coat of arms a jumping black and yellow trout on dark blue background. The badge itself was an isosceles triangle with a black border on top. The trout was named Jaqueline .
history
It was founded in 1925 under the name Fliegerkompanie 7 . Only the Fokker CV and Potez aircraft types were used in 1937. In 1940 these were replaced by the new Messerschmitt Me 109, which remained in service until 1947, whereby in 1945 the pilots were assigned to Fliegerstaffel 7. From 1951 to 1973 Fliegerstaffel 7 used the De Havilland DH.100 Vampire jet aircraft. This together with the De Havilland DH.112 Venom, which was in use with Fliegerstaffel 7 from 1963 to 1974. From 1975 to 1983 the Fliegerstaffel 7 was stationed with the Hawker Hunter in Meiringen. From 1984 to 1991 Fliegerstaffel 7 was still at home with Hawker Hunter at the Interlaken military airfield . On the occasion of 14 years of Hawker Hunter with Fliegerstaffel 7 and 75 years of Aviation Troops in 1989, the J-4007 was painted Blue Hunter : The aircraft was painted in the squadron colors blue & yellow. Most of the aircraft was blue, with yellow bands over the air inlets and on the tail to the engine outlet, which accentuated the Hunter's aerodynamic shape. The additional tanks under the wings were also given a blue top. In 1992 and 1993, the squadron performed its service with the same type of aircraft in Ticino at its war airfield in Ambri . In 1994, Fliegerstaffel 7 was back at home on the Meiringen military airfield with the Hawker Hunter. In 1994 the Hawker Hunter were decommissioned and Fliegerstaffel 7 was disbanded.
