The Lugano-Agno Airport (officially Lugano Airport ) is a Swiss airport in Ticino . It is named after the municipality of Agno , a place near the city of Lugano . The airport operator had to file for bankruptcy in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
Location and transport links
The airport facilities (especially the runway) are on the territory of three municipalities: Agno , Bioggio and Muzzano .
The Agno train station of the FLP (Lugano-Ponte-Tresa-Bahn) is a 10-minute walk from the terminal. This means that Lugano-Agno is integrated into the Ticino S-Bahn network via the S60 line . The journey to Lugano FLP train station in downtown Lugano takes 16 minutes.

Airlines and Destinations
From 2014 to 2018, Swiss served Zurich Airport four times a day from Lugano-Agno with the De Havilland DHC-8-400 operated by Austrian Airlines . From October 2018 to September 2019 this connection was carried out by Adria Airways with a Saab 2000 on behalf of Swiss. Since Adria Airways went bankrupt in September 2019, the airport has no daily scheduled flights.
In addition, the Czech airline Silver Air serves the Marina di Campo airport on the island of Elba twice a week with a Let L-410 during the summer months .
Furnishing
The airport has a runway of 1420 meters. Before the runway was expanded in August 2014, its length was 1,350 m.
