history

Muzzano was first mentioned in 1189 as Muciano. Agnuzzo, which has belonged to the municipality since 1925, is known as the location of a Fronhof as early as 818 , which was given to the clergy of Como by Emperor Ludwig the Pious . Ecclesiastically, the place belonged to Agno until 1735 and then became an independent parish.

Muzzano was home to numerous plasterers and lived from agriculture and the breeding of silk spiders . Towards the end of the 20th century, an industrial zone was created on the east bank of the Vedeggio, which provided jobs. However, three quarters of the working population are commuters who find work in Lugano and the surrounding communities.
