Iseo is a formerly independent municipality in the county Agno , district Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

geography

The village lies at 687 m above sea level. M. west of the Santa Maria mountain on the western slope of the ridge separating the Val Magliasina from the Vedeggio valley and 18 km west of the Lugano railway station of the Swiss Federal Railways .

history

The village was first mentioned as Ysé in 1335. In the late Middle Ages, the village belonged to the concilium (neighborhood) of Santa Maria Juvena together with Cimo , Aranno and later Miglieglia .

Community merger

On April 20, 2008, the municipality of Iseo was integrated into the municipality of Bioggio .
