The airfield Allendorf / Eder is an airfield in Allendorf (Eder) . It is located 1 km north of the municipality in the Ederbergland in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district in Hesse and is the base of the directly adjacent Viessmann factories .

History and use

The Allendorf / Eder airfield was opened in 1966 and used as the company airfield of the Viessmann works and by the Ederbergland air sports club , otherwise there are no scheduled or charter flights. In 2005, the runway was extended to 1240 meters due to the changed legal framework and was released for instrument flight operations (GPS approach) in January 2006 , so that approaches are also possible in poor visibility according to instrument flight rules . Modern approach lighting and a PAPI system support the instrument and visual approach. In 2008, the “Tri-Sixty” bistro was opened as a central meeting place for pilots, aviation enthusiasts and visitors.

According to Viessmann, a third of all flight movements are accounted for by business flight operations, where, in addition to business trips by company employees in Germany and abroad, customers also have the opportunity to visit the Allendorf plant.

The airfield is also used by the German Armed Forces, here by the Rapid Forces Division (DSK), for example to accommodate paratroopers .

Directions

The airfield is located near the Hesse-North Rhine-Westphalia border and can be reached from Winterberg via the B 236 and from Marburg via the B 252 .
