Formula 1 2005

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Formula 1 05 is a racing game released on June 29, 2005, published by Sony Computer Entertainment and developed by Studio Liverpool . It is the twelfth title in Sony's Formula 1 racing game series . Like the other parts, the game was licensed by the FIA .

Gameplay

In contrast to its predecessor, Formula 1 04 , for the first time there is the option of determining what to do in the pits . You can also start a career in which you have to play your way to the top from small teams like Minardi, Jordan or Red Bull. There are three different levels of difficulty in total. The driving behavior of the cars simulates blocking of the front wheels when braking and a possible breakaway in curves. The F1 racing cars differ in their driving style. The game can represent rain: The racetrack appears in deep gray and many white lines patter down. The car becomes more difficult to drive and loses a lot of traction , which is particularly noticeable on the curbs or when accelerating out of corners .

Formula 1 teams

Success in the game can unlock the following four historic Formula 1 cars as rewards, which can be driven in time trial mode:

Racetracks

As a reward for gold trophies on every race track in the time trial, a fictitious bonus race track can be unlocked (Street Circuit) .

Time trial

In addition to the online mode and the normal races, there are also races in which you are alone on the track and have to try to set the best possible lap time. Certain times are given in order to receive either the gold, the silver or the bronze cup on the respective route. Since the golden cup is almost impossible with the standard setup, you can change the vehicle setting and adapt it to the route or your own driving style. Laps in which you cut short or were off the track are not counted. At the same time, you have to be careful not to drive too fast in a curve and accidentally fly into the grass. As a reward for a valuable trophy on all routes, you can unlock bonus vehicles or a bonus route, all of which, however, can only be used in time trial mode. In order to receive such a reward, however, the specified lap time only has to be beaten on a dry race track.

Online mode

Up to ten players can race against each other in a race. In 2007 there were around 5000 registered users. However, it must be noted that some players have two or more user accounts. The motivation in the online mode is maintained by ranking lists. There are two different ways to play in online mode: You can drive with collisions switched on or you can simply drive through the opponents. The latter is mainly played, however, because the online mode is not completely smooth, which often leads to collisions between two players.

Bug in online mode

At the end of 2005, the players found a bug that made it possible to improve the times in the rankings and the positions in the overall rankings in a way not intended by the developer. This is bug using . This trick is only possible if at least two players use it.
