biography

Time in Germany

Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt was born as the son of Kriminalrat Ferdinand Lichtenberg and his wife Barbara and at that time still bore the name Hans-Robert Lichtenberg. He completed a professional training as a baker and later ran several sauna clubs in the Ruhr area .

Through the brokerage of the title dealer Hans-Hermann Weyer , he got to know the then 81-year-old Marie Auguste Princess von Anhalt , who came from the Ascanians and whose family ruled the Duchy of Anhalt until 1918 . She adopted Lichtenberg as an adult in February 1980, who paid her a monthly pension of 2,000 marks . Due to the adoption, Lichtenberg was given the family name “Prince of Anhalt” and also changed his first name to Frédéric. He did not pay the agreed agency fee of 200,000 marks to Weyer.

Time in the usa

Von Anhalt moved to Los Angeles in 1984 after he had met Zsa Zsa Gabor while on vacation there and had commuted between Germany and the United States for three years before Gabor proposed marriage to him, which led to the marriage in 1986. It was through this marriage that von Anhalt first became known in public, according to his own statements, his seventh wife. He used the wedding and the marriage for headlines in the tabloid press. In May 2001, von Anhalt announced that he wanted to divorce his wife because a 19-year-old student was expecting a child from him. However, there was no divorce. In spring 2011, von Anhalt announced that he wanted to have a biological child with his 94-year-old wife, who was in need of care. For this purpose, egg cells should be used that his wife had frozen around 40 years ago and that could be carried to a surrogate mother . The egg cells remained undetectable; the project was abandoned. Gabor's daughter Francesca Hilton expressed her complete rejection of the desire to have children. On December 18, 2016, his wife died after a long illness of complications from a heart attack in her home in Bel Air , with which he received millions in assets as the sole heir. After moving, von Anhalt, who is also an American citizen, still lives in Los Angeles.

Media reports and scandals

When his wife Zsa Zsa Gabor was tried in 1989 for a chase following a traffic stop and a slap in the face of a police officer and was sentenced to community hours and a fine of $ 13,000, von Anhalt suggested that she be jailed for three days instead to go to benefit from media attention. He therefore likes to emphasize that he invented the so-called “three-day jail”, which later celebrities like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan also used to attract attention.

Von Anhalt occurred in 2005 in the ProSieben - reality show "The Castle" on. There he got into the headlines for urinating in the bath water of Kader Loth and was subsequently sued by the latter; However, Loth lost the following lawsuit.

After the death of Anna Nicole Smith in February 2007, von Anhalt claimed to be possibly the father of her five-month-old daughter Dannielynn. As a result, he filed a paternity suit in a Santa Monica court that same month . On April 10, 2007, after a DNA analysis , a court in the Bahamas ruled that Larry Birkhead was the father. In March 2007, von Anhalt filed a lawsuit against US news broadcaster Fox News in a Los Angeles court. He unsuccessfully demanded the equivalent of 7.5 million euros as compensation for insults by its moderator Bill O'Reilly , who described him as a "fraudster" in the course of speculation about paternity.

In January 2010, von Anhalt announced his intention to run for governor in the US state of California . His election promises included legalizing marijuana and prostitution and taxing them to help the state out of the financial crisis. At the beginning of August 2010 he announced the end of his political ambitions.

In September 2010, Hans-Ulrich Esken, judge at the Dortmund district court , said he had sentenced von Anhalt to imprisonment when he was still a sauna operator. The reason for the conviction was that he had "sent groups of children to steal" in Dortmund.

In 2016, the public television broadcaster Das Erste broadcast the documentary "Prince Hollywood - Frédéric von Anhalt" produced by Nicola Graef , for which Graef accompanied him with the camera for a year.

In September 2017, he announced again that he would seek the office of governor of California. Von Anhalt supported Donald Trump in the election campaign for the presidency and promoted it in German and American interviews.

Relationship with the native Ascanians

Marie Auguste von Anhalt

His adoptive mother Marie Auguste von Anhalt (1898–1983) was born as the daughter of Eduard von Anhalt , who was the ruling Duke of Anhalt for almost 5 months in 1918 . Her brother Joachim Ernst succeeded her father as the last Duke of Anhalt, although his uncle Aribert exercised the reign until he renounced the throne in November 1918 because of his minority . Marie Auguste had Kaiser Wilhelm II as her father-in-law through her marriage to Joachim of Prussia . After this marriage she was married to Johannes-Michael Freiherr von Loën until 1935 .

Von Anhalt's public statement that he was an Ascanian led to various tensions with Eduard Prinz von Anhalt , who is the head of the noble family and whose aunt Marie Auguste was. In the opinion of Eduard von Anhalt, Frédéric von Anhalt does not belong to the House of Anhalt due to the adult adoption. According to German adoption law , this would be the alternative point of view, he is at least part of the Anhalt family as the son of Marie Auguste.

Adult adoptions

Von Anhalt, for his part, adopted several adults who have since carried the family name “Prince von Anhalt”. The adoptions were carried out in the USA and are recognized in Germany. In return for payment, he also awarded at least 68 so-called “knights” . A few days after his wife Zsa Zsa Gabor, his adoptive son Oliver died as a result of a motorcycle accident.

The following people became name-bearers through adoptions:

  • Maximilian Michael Prinz von Anhalt (* 1963 as Michael Killer), operator of fitness clubs
  • Marcus Prinz von Anhalt (* 1966 as Marcus Eberhardt), brothel operator
  • Oliver Leopold Prinz von Anhalt (1964–2016, born as Oliver Bendig), night club operator
  • Alexander Markus Maximilian Prince of Anhalt (* 1972 as Markus Chapelaer), car rental owner
  • Maximilian Ferdinand Leopold Prince of Anhalt (* 1984 as Markus Wölfert), lawyer
  • Albrecht Alexander Prince of Anhalt (* 1993 as Alexander Wessel), businessman

Frédéric von Anhalt Foundation

In 1995, von Anhalt founded the Frédéric-von-Anhalt-Foundation based in Dessau-Roßlau . The foundation is administered by a lawyer. The purpose of the foundation is to promote child and youth welfare and the welfare system.
