Frank Herzog (cyclist)

Frank Herzog (* 1959 ) is a former German cyclist .

Athletic career

Herzog was one of the most versatile cyclists in the GDR . He won competitions in road races, stage races , time trials , but also in cross-country races and track races , here mainly as a stalker .

Herzog started for SC DHfK Leipzig , after leaving the sports club for TSG Gröditz and ASG Weißenfels.

In 1979 he was able to win the championship title in road races and team time trials with the juniors. In the men's class, he was GDR champion in team time trials in 1984 (in 1979 he was 2nd) with Axel Grosser , Jan Schur and Jens Wittek . In 1987 he won the national cross-country title in the TSG Gröditz jersey . At the GDR championships for standing he came second in 1987. And third in 1985 and 1986.

Herzog won several stages in tours. He won the Alpe-Adria tour in 1980. He took u. a. take part in the Romania Tour , the Wilhelm Tell Tour, the Bulgaria Tour , the Bohemia Tour, the Cuba Tour and the GDR Tour . In the latter, his best placement was 7th in 1980. In 1988 he ended his cycling career.
