Frankstahl is an Austrian steel trading company based in Vienna . The Frankstahl Group consists of Frankstahl Rohr- und Stahlhandels GmbH, which operates in Germany, and Inter-Frankstahl Auslandsbeteiligungs GmbH, with business activities in the Czech Republic , Slovakia , Hungary , Slovenia , Croatia , Bosnia and Herzegovina , Romania and Bulgaria . In 2016, the Frankstahl Group achieved sales of around 360 million euros and in 2017 employed 800 people, around 300 of them in Austria .
history
1880 Bela Frank founded a Flanschfabrik in Vienna Nordwestbahnstraße . During the time of National Socialism was "the factory arisiert " and the end of the 1960s to the widow of the founder refunded . In 1969 the current owner, Erwin Javor, bought the company. The company management is now in the hands of his son Marcel Javor. Due to the growth Frankstahl moved in 1986 to a 50,000 square meter company site in Guntramsdorf , south of Vienna, which today forms the company's operational headquarters. In 1989 the company opened its first branch in Linz . The following year the first foreign subsidiary was established in the Czech Republic. In 1997 Frankstahl acquired Friedrich Hirnböck GmbH in Salzburg . In 1999 the first joint venture with AluKönigStahl started in the Czech Republic. Further joint ventures followed in Budapest (2001), Bratislava (2002) and Bucharest (2006). In 2002 Frankstahl founded independent subsidiaries in Ljubljana and Zagreb and in 2006 expanded its activities in Romania. In 2007 the company Helios in Plovdiv , Bulgaria was taken over and integrated into the group as Frankstahl Bulgaria. Another expansion step was the establishment of a sales office in Stans in 2011. In the following year, the steel trading activities of the Danicek Group in Carinthia and the Bogner Edelstahl Group were taken over. Frankstahl now has three warehouse locations in Austria. These include Guntramsdorf, Wels and Salzburg. The total storage area is around 98,000 m².
Company profile
Frank steel mainly supplies companies in the steel , mechanical engineering , vehicle construction , plant engineering , building technology and sanitary engineering . The product range includes long and flat products made of steel as carrier , pipes and equipment panels and engineering steel , stainless steel and aluminum . Another focus of the company is on the product lines for the building services and installation sectors , in particular fittings , fittings and plastic and stainless steel systems. In addition to the unprocessed products, Frankstahl also offers sawing , grooving and priming of the goods.
The corporate culture of Frankstahl also includes the promotion of culture and environmental protection . Erwin Javor is editor of “NU - Jewish Magazine for Politics and Culture” and appeared as impresario for the Walfischgasse city theater, which was operated from 2005 to 2015 in downtown Vienna. Frankstahl has been a partner in the environmental protection organization Global 2000 since 2010 .
In a ruling by the Cartel Court against several steel wholesalers for prohibited price fixing in October 2015, Frankstahl was sentenced to a fine of 147,000 euros at the request of the Federal Competition Authority (BWB).
Frankstahl launched its online shop for steel in July 2016.
