Franz Markus Haniel (born April 1, 1955 in Oberhausen ) is a German manager from the Haniel family .

Life

Haniel studied languages ​​and literature in Grenoble , then from 1976 to 1981 mechanical engineering in Munich . He did an MBA at INSEAD in Fontainebleau in 1982 . From 1982 to 1986 he worked as a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton .

Since 2003 he has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH . Haniel has been a member of the supervisory board of Delton AG , Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, since April 2006 . He is also a member of the BMW AG Supervisory Board . From 2000 to 2006, Haniel was a member of the management team at the banknote printer Giesecke & Devrient . From November 2007 to February 2016 he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Metro AG . As the head of the Haniel family , which has around 650 shareholders, he ensures their unity. He also chairs the Board of Trustees of the Haniel Foundation .

He lives with his family in Munich.
