Frederick "Freddie" Hamilton (born January 1, 1992 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last until July 2018 under contract with the Arizona Coyotes from the National Hockey League and played for them on the position of the center .
Career
Hamilton played during his junior years between 2008 and 2012 for the Niagara IceDogs in the Ontario Hockey League , of which the last three years together with his younger brother Dougie . During this time he won the Ivan Tennant Memorial Award in 2009 and was selected a year later in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round in 129th place by the San Jose Sharks from the National Hockey League .
The Sharks finally signed the striker in the summer of 2011 and began using him in their farm team , the Worcester Sharks , from the American Hockey League in the 2012/13 season . In the course of the 2013/14 and 2014/15 game years he came to a total of twelve NHL appearances for the San Jose Sharks, but played mainly in Worcester. In March 2015, the Colorado Avalanche secured the services of Hamilton, who in return sent defense attorney Karl Stollery to San Jose. During the remainder of the season, the center played 17 games for the Avalanche and five for the Lake Erie Monsters in the AHL.
Although the Avalanche extended Hamilton's contract by one year in September 2015, they transferred him only a few weeks later for a conditional seven-round suffrage in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft to league rivals Calgary Flames , who had signed his brother Dougie and the brothers just in the summer reunited. After just over two years and 39 NHL games in Calgary, the attacker got to the Arizona Coyotes via the waiver in January 2018 . There he ended the season and subsequently did not receive a further contract, so that he has been looking for a new employer since July 2018.
International
Hamilton played for Team Canada Ontario in the 2009 World U-17 Hockey Challenge , where his team won the gold medal. He also played at the 2010 U18 World Championship and the 2012 U20 World Championship . At the U20 World Cup in 2012, he secured the bronze medal with the Canadians.

family
Hamilton's younger brother Dougie is also a professional ice hockey player. His father Doug was a successful rower , who at the 1984 Summer Olympics the bronze medal in quadruple sculls won and also at the 1988 Summer Olympics participated. His mother, Lynn Polson , was a member of the Canadian women's basketball team at the 1984 Summer Games, finishing the tournament in fourth place.
