Friedrich-Karl Praetorius

Friedrich-Karl Praetorius (born January 6, 1952 in Hamburg ) is a German writer , theater and film actor .

Life

Friedrich-Karl Praetorius completed his visit to the Hamburg University of Music and Performing Arts in 1971 with a diploma. From 1972 to 1977 he was engaged by Peter Zadek at the Schauspielhaus Bochum .

A one-year hiatus took him to Rotterdam and London as a member of the PipSimmons group. In 1976 he was the protagonist in Wedekind's Spring Awakening together with Herbert Grönemeyer , followed by an appearance in Zadek's first legendary Hamlet production in Bochum-Hamme .

Zadek then brought him to Hamburg. There he first played at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus in the world premiere of the play Freibrief by Gaston Salvatore , directed by Arie Zinger.

Then Peter Zadek cast him in the central role of Gethin Price in the play Comedian , which was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen after its premiere in the Hamburg Thaliatheater in 1978 .

With Neuenfels he moved to Schauspiel Frankfurt in 1979 . Neuenfels entrusted him with the title role in King Oedipus at the Frankfurt Theater in 1979 . Other title roles followed there. From 1982 to 1984 Praetorius was at the Schiller Theater . After a brief engagement at the Munich Residenz Theater, Ivan Nagel brought him to the Stuttgart State Theater for the 1985–1986 season .

In 1988 he appeared at the Burgtheater in Vienna as a businessman from Venice , moved to the Schauspielhaus Zürich in 1990, before moving to Frankfurt again from 1992, where he has been playing ever since. He also gives guest performances at other theaters in German-speaking countries.

Praetorius has often appeared in films and television series. In the 1973 film Die Zärtlichkeit der Wolfe by Rainer Werner Fassbinder , he was cast as Kurt Fromm . He played several times in the television series Tatort and in the series Ein Fall für Zwei , as well as leading roles in film adaptations of the Brecht plays Threepenny Opera and Mother Courage . In the 2nd season he had a supporting role in the ARD series Liebling Kreuzberg as a trainee lawyer Wittlich (1988). In 2011 he worked in the film Hotel Lux .

In addition to working as a book critic and journalist a. a. From 1993 he wrote several books for Spiegel , Die Zeit and Frankfurter Rundschau , which were published by Suhrkamp and Insel Verlag . He has written several plays, including Alzheimer Roulette and Die Frauenfalle (both premiered in 1999) and Wildgrober or End of the Theater , dedicated to the late actor Ulrich Wildgruber , who was invited to the play market of the Berlin Theatertreffen 2000.
