Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig von Beulwitz (born August 28, 1755 in Rudolstadt ; † March 9, 1829 there ) was a German lawyer and chancellor .
Life
family
Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig von Beulwitz was the son of Carl Wilhelm Ludwig von Beulwitz (* 1728; † February 26, 1802 in Eichicht ), colonel in the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and his wife, Wilhelmine Christine von Beulwitz (* unknown; † January 1777), born. He also had two birth sisters:
- Louise Friederike Wilhelmine von Beulwitz (born September 3, 1756; † unknown), married the lieutenant colonel von Beulwitz zu Lobenstein;
- Johanna Ulrike Charitas von Beulwitz (* February 28, 1758; † unknown), married the privy councilor Eychelberg in Gera ;
- two other sisters died very young.
He had other half-siblings from his father's second marriage:
- Maria Sophie von Beulwitz (born April 28, 1730; † 1731);
- Christiane Henriette (* 1730; † May 18, 1732);
- Henriette Elisabeth Caroline (born April 14, 1733; † unknown), married Christian Wilhelm von Burkersrode from Merseburg , Saxon Chamber Councilor .
After the death of his father in 1801 he inherited the estates Löhma , Munschwitz , Eichicht, Breternitz and St. Jakob , which had been in the family since 1450.
In 1780 he married Caroline , daughter of the forest master Carl Christoph von Lengefeld (1715–1775) and his wife Louise von Lengefeld , as well as the sister of Charlotte von Lengefeld , later wife of the poet Friedrich Schiller . There were no male descendants from his marriage to Caroline, but all of his possessions were male fiefs . For this reason, the two decided to split up in 1790, but remained on friendly terms.
In 1795 he married Amalie (* 1768; † 1826), daughter of the privy councilor and chief hunter Eugen Georg August Gottfried Freiherr von Bibra (1743–1802), who was then with the ruling Duchess Charlotte von Sachsen-Meiningen as a lady in waiting; his brother-in-law was, among others, the Meiningen Landtag Marshal Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Gottlob von Bibra . They had three children together:
- August Ludwig Carl von Beulwitz (born February 15, 1796 in Rudolstadt, † October 27, 1834 in Löhma);
- Amalie von Beulwitz (* 1798, † 1804);
- Ida (* 1800; † unknown).

Because Carl Gerd von Ketelhodt retired from his official duties as Chancellor due to his age, Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig von Beulwitz took over his duties, but only officially got the position after his death.
After the death of Prince Ludwig Friedrich II. He stood by the widow Karoline von Hessen-Homburg in an advisory capacity when she took over the reign until 1814 until her son Friedrich Günther came of age .

Because the house of Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig von Beulwitz was the center of intellectual life in Rudolstadt, where nobles and commoners interested in literature, politics and philosophy met, Friedrich Schiller also stayed there. He met his future wife there, and it was in this house that Friedrich Schiller and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe met personally for the first time. There were closer acquaintances with the writers Jean Paul and Johann Gottlieb Fichte , Karl Ludwig von Knebel , the brothers Alexander and Wilhelm von Humboldt and with Prince Ludwig Friedrich II. Von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. In 1811 he took a trip to Dresden and met the painter Gerhard von Kügelgen and his pupil Caspar David Friedrich .

In connection with the introduction of Florence Friedrich Sigismund as a judicial officer in 1828, which took place by Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig von Beulwitz, the citizens of Blankenburg named this rock after him out of gratitude . The Beulwitz memorial became a popular destination shortly after its inauguration. It was already mentioned in a letter from Friedrich Fröbel to Christian Eduard Langethal at the end of July 1839, whereby Fröbel remarked that he had "... taken a long walk ... to the Beulwitz rock and the Beulwitz monument ...".
