Friedrich von Brühl
Friedrich Wilhelm Graf von Brühl (born June 16, 1791 in Berlin , † June 17, 1859 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .
Life
origin
He came from the Upper Saxon noble family von Brühl . His grandfather was Heinrich Graf von Brühl . His father Carl Adolph von Brühl (1742–1802) was a Prussian general of the artillery and a younger brother of Alois Friedrich von Brühl and older brother of Hanns Moritz von Brühl , the Chaussee manager of Berlin.
Career
Brühl became a junker in the Gens d'armes regiment in 1803 and became a cornet two years later . As such he took during the War of the Fourth Coalition in the fighting at Nordhausen and Tangermünde part and finally got in Prenzlau in French captivity . After his release, he was in 1807 second lieutenant in the volunteer corps " Marwitz " and took in the same year his farewell as a first lieutenant .
In 1808, Brühl joined the “ Count Merveldt ” Uhlan regiment as a second lieutenant in Austrian service. In 1809 he became a first lieutenant and took part in the Fifth Coalition War in the battles at Scherding, Rambach, Ebergerg and Wels as well as the Battle of Znaim . In 1813 he was promoted to Rittmeister and took part in the campaign in Italy in 1814/15. In 1819 he became squadron chief in the regiment " Archduke Karl ". In 1828 Brühl moved again to the "Prince Friedrich von Sachsen" cuirassier regiment, but in 1828 he said goodbye.
Through the intercession of his father-in-law, Brühl rejoined the Prussian Army and was aggregated as Rittmeister to the 1st Cuirassier Regiment in 1828 . He was promoted to major in 1830 and became director of the 11th Division's school . As early as 1839 he resigned as a lieutenant colonel , but was promoted to colonel in 1841 and at the same time wing adjutant of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. In 1846, Brühl became the commander of the body gendarmerie . In 1848 he rose to major general and general à la suite of the king. In 1850 he received his last farewell as Lieutenant General with a pension .
family
In 1828 he married Hedwig Countess Neidhardt von Gneisenau (1805–1890), daughter of the Prussian general August Neidhardt von Gneisenau . From this marriage the following daughters, but no sons, so that this line in the male line expired in 1859:
