history
Friedrichsrode is a comparatively young village. It was founded by King Friedrich I and first mentioned in a document in 1706. 17 farmers and their families were settled on the former Sülzungen desert . Another 15 settlers followed later. In 1724 the residents built the new one on the foundations of the old church. The church tower was built in 1750 . The school was then built.
In Friedrichsrode, art now predominates. In 1991 there was an art market in town. In 1993 the Kulturland Hainleite eV took over the sponsorship of the Kunsthof. On July 15, 2009, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for the expansion of the former cowshed into a functional building called the Kunsthof and a fire station .
Today 76 people live in the village, in which large parts are listed ; including the church, four individual farmsteads and half-timbered buildings .
