Futsal South American Championship

The official South American Futsal Championship for national teams has been held by CONMEBOL since 1992, and since 2003 the Copa América Futsal ( Spanish : Copa América de fútbol sala ). The first final round took place in Aracaju , Brazil .

history

Continental futsal championships were held in South America from 1965 to 1989. These were held under the care of the Federación Internacional de Fútbol de Salón (FIFUSA) and from 1971 the Asociación Mundial de Futsal (AMF). However, it was not played under the futsal rules recognized and sanctioned by FIFA today. The first tournament took place in Asunción , Paraguay and was won by the hosts . Brazil won the other ten competitions .

mode

The following mode currently applies: The game is played in two groups of five teams each in a simple round, everyone against everyone. The first and second group play the semi-finals crosswise. The two losers play for third place, the winners for the tournament victory.
