Gérard Ernest Schneider

Ernest Albert Gérard Schneider (born April 28, 1896 in Sainte-Croix , Switzerland ; † July 8, 1986 in Paris , France ) was a Swiss painter , draftsman and lithographer of abstract art , who is assigned to the École de Paris (Paris School) .

Life

Schneider attended the “École des Arts Décoratifs” in Paris from 1916 to 1918, and worked in the Atelier Cormon , Paris. In 1918 he enrolled at the "École des Beaux Arts", also in Paris, and received his artistic training there. He has received numerous prizes and awards for his work. Among other things, he was awarded the "Premio Lissone" in Milan in 1957. In 1975 he received the “Prix de Tokyo” and the “Grand Prix National des Arts” in France and in 1983 the medal of the “Ville de Paris”.

Schneider's work has been shown at numerous international group exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale , the São Paulo Biennale, and in 1955 at documenta 1 and in 1959 at documenta II in Kassel .
