Gōdo ( Japanese 神 戸 町 , - chō ) is a city in Ampachi County in Gifu Prefecture , Japan .
geography
Gōdo is located in the Nōbi plain on the east side - with the exception of the district Nishizagura on the west side - of the Ibi-gawa river .
The neighboring communities in clockwise order are Ōno in the northeast and east, Mizuho in the southeast, Ōgaki in the south and Ikeda in the west and northwest.
history
The Gōdo community was founded on April 1, 1889 when the Japanese community was established. In 1892 it was upgraded from a village community ( mura ) to a small town ( chō ). In 1950 the majority of Kitahirano ( 北平 野村 , -mura ), in 1954 Shimomiya ( 下 宮 村 , -mura ) and parts of Minamihirano ( 南平 野村 , -mura ), and in 1960 parts of Kawai ( 川 合 村 , -mura ) were incorporated.
Attractions
In Gōdo there is the Hiyoshi Shrine ( 日 吉 神社 ), whose three-story pagoda, Jizō wooden statue, eleven-faced Kannon and stone guardian lions are classified as national important cultural assets . The most important Buddhist temple is the Zengaku-in ( 善 学院 ).
traffic
Gōdo has no connection to a national trunk road, but to several prefecture roads. The only railway connection is the Yōrō line of the regional operator Yōrō Tetsudō with a connection to Ibigawa or Kuwana in Mie prefecture .

In Gōdo there are the primary schools Shimomiya, Gōdo, Minamihirano and Kita as well as the middle school Gōdo.
