G7 summit in Bonn 1978

The G7 summit in Bonn in 1978 took place from July 16-17, 1978. It was the fourth meeting of the Group of Seven , and the Federal Republic of Germany was the host for the first time.

The Bonn Declaration and a Declaration on Aircraft Hijackings were drawn up. Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and his Japanese colleague Takeo Fukuda came under pressure from US President Jimmy Carter and others to stimulate their economy, whereupon the summit made trade commitments to overcome the weakness of the world economy, fight inflation and secure future energy supplies ( The United States decided to save oil.

Meeting of the G7 summit was at that Federal Chancellery associated Palais Schaumburg .
