The G7 summit in Biarritz was the 45th summit of the leaders of the Group of Seven .

The meeting took place under the chairmanship of the French President Emmanuel Macron from August 24 to 26, 2019. The venue was the Hôtel du Palais in Biarritz .
Due to the annexation of Crimea in March 2014, the G7 declared that a meaningful discussion with Russia within the G8 was not possible. Since then, the meetings have continued as part of the G7 process.
Macron said there would be no pre-negotiated final communiqué, unlike previous meetings. "Nobody" reads these documents, which are written by bureaucrats, on whose dependency he does not want to go.

Support has been promised against the fires in Brazil and the forest fire areas in the Amazon region.
- Sahel initiative
- On the second day of the summit, representatives from five African countries arrived (see info box) who had put forward proposals for new Africa strategies in the months before the meeting. A new partnership for security and stability in the Sahel region was announced at a press conference .
Side events
The Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Jawad Sarif , who had not been officially invited to the G7 summit, surprisingly arrived in Biarritz on August 25 and held talks with Macron.
