G8 summit in Okinawa 2000
The G8 summit in Okinawa 2000 (also: Kyushu -Okinawa Summit ) was the 26th summit of the heads of government of the Group of Eight . The meeting was chaired by the Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori from 21 to 23 July 2000 in the city of Nago , in the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa instead.

For the first time, heads of government from other countries were invited as guests, namely from South Africa , Nigeria , Algeria and Senegal . Representatives from the World Health Organization were also present.
