Gabermühle (colloquially: Gôbamül ) is a district of the municipality of Kalchreuth in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in Middle Franconia .

location

The wasteland lies on the south bank of the Schwabach . The Dormitzer Forest borders in the south . A residential path leads 100 meters further south to the district road ERH 33 , which runs to Brand (4 km east) or to state road 2243 (1.5 km west).

history

The mill was probably built around 1100. It was first mentioned in a document in 1278 as "molendum dictum zü Herburge Mule". In 1346 it was first mentioned as "Gabel Mül". Both variants are probably derived from the family name of the respective owner (Herburg, Gabel). In the second form, a derivation from (Bach) fork is also conceivable. In fact, the Schwabach forks at the mill. The mill was an imperial property until 1279 , when it was pledged to the Lords of Schluesselberg by the Roman-German King Rudolf I. In 1347 it came to the burgraviate of Nuremberg and later, as its legal successor, to the Brandenburg-Kulmbach margraves . It was located in the Fraisch district of the Brandenburg-Kulmbach Oberamt Baiersdorf and was controllable by the Baiersdorf caste office . The mill had forest rights in the Sebalder Reichswald . The mill burned down during the Thirty Years War .

As part of the community edict (early 19th century) Gabermühle was assigned to the tax district and the rural community of Kalchreuth .
