Käswasser (colloquially: kʰēswasa ) is a district of the municipality of Kalchreuth in the district of Erlangen-Höchstadt in Central Franconia .

geography

The village of Käswasser is located in the Erlanger Alb foreland . The place is surrounded by arable land and grassland. In the northwest the field is called Rohrwiesen , in the northeast Unterer Berg and in the south Bodenwiesen . The new housing estate of Kalchreuth borders 0.25 km to the west, and the new housing estate of Röckenhof is 0.25 km northeast .

history

The place was probably founded around 1050 and was originally an imperial estate administered by the Heroldsberg Imperial Office. In 1276 the place was first mentioned in a document as "Kasewazzer". The place name probably refers to the brook, which was so named due to its turbidity ( mhd. Kæsewaʒʒer = whey ). Until the beginning of the 19th century, Käswasser was under the sovereignty of the imperial city of Nuremberg . The landlords of the individual properties changed frequently over time. During the two Margrave Wars ( 1449/50 , 1552/53 ) and the Thirty Years War , the place was badly affected. In 1778 "Käßwasser" consisted of seven properties and a community shepherd's house. The dominance of the village and community , which was decisive for sovereignty in the Franconian region , was claimed by the patrician family Haller von Hallerstein , who were Nuremberg owners . Landlords were the Haller (forest house with Hube of the stock Forster and Good, 1 Dreiviertelhof, 1 Halbhof, one good), the Holzschuher (1 Well), the Imhoff (1 Halbhof), the St. Clare Office (1 Well).

Käswasser became Bavarian in 1806 after the imperial city of Nuremberg was annexed by the Kingdom of Bavaria in breach of the imperial constitution . With this forcible takeover, the village became part of the New Bavarian territories that were taken over during the Napoleonic land consolidation , which was only subsequently legalized in July 1806 with the Rhenish Federal Act .

As part of the community edict (early 19th century), Käswasser was assigned to the tax district and the rural community of Kalchreuth .
