history

Röckenhof was built around 1100. The original feudal lords were the lords of Gründlach and with their extinction in 1315 the lords of Hohenlohe-Brauneck . In 1346 the place was first mentioned in a document as "Rekkenhof". The defining word is the personal name Recke . It can be assumed that it was the Ministerial Reck after whom the place was named. They have been attested as servants of the Gründlacher and Thanner since 1270. In the middle of the 14th century the burgraviate of Nuremberg was a feudal lord, later the margraves became their legal successor . The Nuremberg patrician Berthold Pfinzing had landlord claims at that time . As a result, the Pömer were the landlords of the whole place. They sold two farms and four Söldengütlein in 1425 to the Nuremberg citizen Starck. Somewhat contradicting the information of a document from the year 1439, in which four rear seats of the Starcks are mentioned, while the Pömer in the place still had two rear seats. In the middle of the 15th century, the Lords of Eyb Röckenhof received an after-fief that they should hold until 1848. Originally the place was in the Fraisch district of the Nuremberg main team Heroldsberg (1497 attested, "Reckenhoff" with nine households). In 1514, the Pömer sold their claims to the Starck, making them the sole landlords of the place, which at that time consisted of three farms, six estates and a shepherd's house. The Fraisch tried to make the Brandenburg-Kulmbach Oberamt Baiersdorf disputed. During the Second Margrave War , the manor house in Röckenhof was set on fire in 1552. In the following period the place was subordinate to the Oberamt Baiersdorf (1604 attested). The town was badly hit during the Thirty Years War : 36 out of 56 villagers had died. In 1698 there were 12 properties in Röckenhof (3 courtyards, 1 inn, 4 Köblersgüter, 1 Gütlein, 2 Söldengütlein, 1 shepherd's house). In 1713 the Starck sold all of their claims to the Barons von Stappel. As early as 1748 these were sold to the general superintendent von Knebel in Ansbach .

As part of the community edict (early 19th century), Röckenhof was assigned to the Kalchreuth tax district . In 1818 the rural community Röckenhof was formed. In administration and jurisdiction, it was subordinate to the Erlangen Regional Court and in the financial administration to the Erlangen Rent Office (from 1920 Erlangen Tax Office ). In voluntary jurisdiction, the entire place was subject to the Röckenhof patrimonial court . From 1862, Röckenhof was administered by the Erlangen District Office (renamed the Erlangen District in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained until 1879 the District Court Erlangen, from 1880 at the district court Erlangen . The municipality had an area of 1.373 km².

The feudal rule ended in 1850. The now dilapidated castle was demolished and an inn was built instead.

On May 1, 1978, Röckenhof was incorporated into the municipality of Kalchreuth as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
