history
During the 17th century, Gelliehausen was part of the patrimonial Altenleichen in the Guelph Duchy of Braunschweig-Lüneburg . While the upper ownership remained with the sovereign, the aristocratic family of Uslar-Gleichen received the patrimonial court and all accessories in 1381 as a fief . They appeared as patrons of the church, landlords and landowners in the village until the Landgraves of Hesse appeared in 1451 and claimed the open quarter that the Lords of Uslar-Gleichen did not own. On January 1, 1973 Gelliehausen was incorporated into the new municipality of Gleichen.

Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms designed by Otto Rössler von Wildenhain was approved by the President of the Prussian Province of Hanover on December 15, 1937. It symbolizes the two earlier castles of the same age ; the alternating battlements and the colors silver and red come from the coat of arms of the Lords of Uslar-Gleichen, who ruled over the area and the castles from 1270. |
