coat of arms

Sattenhausen coat of arms
Blazon : “Split; divided in front by red and gold (yellow), behind in blue a gold (yellow) armored and red-tongued lion divided seven times by silver (white) and red. "
Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms designed by Otto Rössler von Wildenhain was approved by the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior on January 13, 1950. Sattenhausen was acquired by the Landgraves of Hesse in 1451 . The left half of the coat of arms therefore shows the Hessian lion. The colors red and gold stand for the earlier membership in the Duchy of Braunschweig-Lüneburg .

Attractions

  • The Evangelical Reformed Church in Sattenhausen is a round tower church . The round tower dates from the Middle Ages , the nave was added in the 17th century. The tower hood and tower hangings also date from this time . Part of the defensive wall has been preserved. The tower has a diameter of 5.25 m, next to it parts of an inner ring and the outer ring wall, which enclosed the church and the churchyard, have been completely preserved. The ditch in front of the outer ring wall, which is now referred to by the street name Kirchgraben , has been filled in and could once have carried water. A weathered inscription stone in the outer wall dates the complex to the year 1432, which would mean that Hans von Uslar-Gleichen , in response to the feuds of the late Middle Ages, had the church and tower built. In 1461 the church was expanded.
