The community mountain is about 625 m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Hahnenkamm , a mountain range of the Franconian Alb low mountain range . It is located in the municipality of Markt Berolzheim in the Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia . The wooded mountain is one of the highest peaks in the Hahnenkamm and the district.

The community mountain rises in the Altmühltal nature park in the Berolzheim forest . Its summit is 2.8 km west-southwest of the center of the municipality of Markt Berolzheim. The municipal boundary of Meinheim in the north and west, whose core town is 3 km north of the summit, and Heidenheim in the south, whose core town is 5 km west-northwest , runs around the summit region . Along the west wide to southwest flank the Heidenheim districts Degersheim and, at the Rohrach (Eastern Rohrach) located Rohrach , and on the north edge of the My Heimer is district Oberweiler . On the north-eastern edge of the summit region there is a trigonometric point ( ⊙ ) at a height of 622.8 m . To the south, the landscape passes over the 600 m south elevation to the neighboring Steinbühl ( 632.1 m ) elevation .

The municipality mountain belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Alb (No. 08), in the main unit Southern Franconian Alb ( 082) and in the subunit Altmühlalb (082.2) to the natural area Hahnenkammalb (082.20).
Protected areas
Parts of the protected landscape area in the Altmühltal Nature Park ( CDDA no. 396115; designated 1995; 1632.9606 km² in size) and the Fauna-Flora-Habitat- Area Trauf of the southern Franconian Jura (FFH no. 6833-371; 43 , 2442 km²). Nearby nature reserves are Steinerne Rinne near Wolfsbronn (CDDA no. 82630; 1937; 6.53 ha ) in the west-northwest and Buchleite near Markt Berolzheim (CDDA no. 162621; 1981; 31.13 ha) in the east.
