Georg Fröhlich (architect)
Georg Fröhlich (born January 7, 1853 in Göttingen , † February 21, 1927 in Hanover ) was a German architect and construction clerk who worked as a city architect and city planning officer in Stade and Linden .
Life
Born in the Kingdom of Hanover , Georg Fröhlich studied in the years after the establishment of the German Empire from 1873 to 1874 at the Hanover Polytechnic as a student of Conrad Wilhelm Hase . Then he was appointed city architect in Stade.
From 1891 to 1911 Fröhlich was first active as a city architect in Linden, later also as a city planning officer in the then still independent city outside Hanover. As such, he created public buildings, especially school buildings , which he commissioned the architects Alfred Sasse and Carl Arend to design around 1900 .

In Linden
All the buildings that have been preserved, in particular the school buildings by Georg Fröhlich, are now listed as historical monuments . Among other things, Fröhlich created in Linden:
- 1894: Planning for an urban workers' settlement in Fossefeld (not carried out)
- Preparatory drafts for the New Town Hall on Lindener Markt
- 1899: Design of the primary school in Salzmannstrasse
- 1901–1904: Floor plans of the Humboldt School (facade design by Alfred Sasse )
- 1905: Official apartment for the mayor Hermann Lodemann , Badenstedter Straße
- 1905: Middle School on Lindener Berg (today part of IGS Linden )
- 1906: Siloam Hospital
- 1906–1908: Eichendorffschule , Hennigestraße 3 ( Catholic elementary and elementary school)
- 1910–1912: Friederiken School (together with Arend)
