Georg Karl von Sutner

Georg Karl Sutner , from 1811 Ritter von Sutner , (born October 30, 1763 in Munich ; † January 23, 1837 ibid) was a German civil servant and mayor of Munich.

Life

Georg Karl von Sutner was a son of Corbinian Sutner, braid makers .

After studying law at the University of Ingolstadt , he received the diploma there on July 21, 1785 as a graduate licentiate in law, after which he acquired practical knowledge at the electoral district court of Dachau .

1786, he was internal counsel at the Munich Magistrate and by the decree of May 21, 1792 municipal archivist at the City Counsel Carl Anton von Barth (1758 to 1797); after his death, Georg Karl von Sutner became Munich city counsel on April 21, 1797. On June 15, 1792 he was appointed imperial notary.

In 1804 he was elected mayor of the capital and residence city of Munich; on July 6 of the same year, the ordinaries of the Bavarian countryside at that time elected him the sixth extraordinary ordinator of the civil status. In this function he was an advisory member of the state government in the preparations for a state parliament.

In 1805 he became a regional surcharge ( tax collector ) and, after the dissolution of the earlier municipal constitutions in 1806, entered the immediate royal civil service as a surcharge.

On September 1, 1808 he was elected to the council in the tax and domain section in the royal state ministry of finance, in 1809 to the board of the requisitions commission, in 1810 a member of the court commission set up to take over the state of Salzburg and on September 17, 1814 to the board of the state debt repayment commission.

On April 12, 1817 he was appointed Ministerialrat and on October 15, 1819 he was promoted to the Real Council of State while retaining the position of director of the Debt Repayment Commission.

In 1825 he became a member of the State Council Committee, which was ordered for mixed cases, and a member of the State Council Committee.

On May 16, 1828 he was appointed Reichsrat .

On December 3, 1834, the king appointed him arbiter at the federal arbitration tribunal.

The ducal Leuchtenberg house appointed him advisor and special guardian of the princes and princesses of the Duke of Leuchtenburg . Maximilian Graf von Preising (1736-1827) appointed him executor, since the retirement of the allodial from the entails with a large fortune and important goods with many thousands of income had to be regulated.

Georg Karl von Sutner was married and had a daughter, Crescentia, and a son, Johann Nepomuk von Sutner (* March 8, 1798 - February 23, 1884), who was also appointed chairman of the public debt repayment commission in 1848 and a privy councilor in 1871 .

Memberships

He was accepted on December 15, 1795 as an extraordinary and shortly thereafter as a full member of the historical class by the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . The inclusion as a full member on May 1, 1807. King I. Maximilian Joseph and on 9 June 1827 by King Ludwig I. confirmed.

In 1806 he became prefect of the Marian Men's Congregation of the Annunciation at the Bürgersaal in Munich.

From 1828 to 1834 he was a member of the Bavarian Parliament and during this time worked in the Presidium of the Chamber of Imperial Councils in 1831 as 2nd secretary and in 1834 as 1st secretary. He was also a member of the committees:

  • Tax Committee: Member during the 3rd electoral period from 1831–1836 in the 5th State Parliament in 1831;
  • Complaints Committee: Member during the 3rd electoral term in the 5th State Parliament in 1831;
  • Tax Committee: Member during the 3rd electoral term in the 6th state parliament, 1834.

Awards and honors

On February 27, 1787, Elector Karl Theodor raised him to the nobility.

On April 20, 1811, he received the Knight's Cross of the Civil Service Order and on October 16, 1820 he was awarded the Commander's Insignia of the Civil Service Order.

In 1900 the Sutnerstrasse in Harlaching was named in his honor .
