Georg von Viebahn (statistician)

Johann Georg Wilhelm von Viebahn (born October 10, 1802 in Soest , † August 28, 1871 in Opole ) was a Prussian civil servant and statistician .

Life

From 1820 Viebahn studied law in Heidelberg and at other universities. During his studies he joined a Heidelberg fraternity in 1821/22 . Viebahn was initially an auscultator in the Prussian civil service, trainee lawyer in 1827, government assessor in 1829, government councilor in Düsseldorf in 1831 , secret upper finance councilor in Berlin in 1841 and regional president of Upper Silesia in Opole in 1858 . In 1844, together with Friedrich von Diergardt, he founded the Centralverein for the welfare of the working classes . He made official reports on the world exhibitions in London in 1851 and Paris in 1855 , which he attended as the main representative of the Customs Union .

In the first and second electoral periods (1849 to 1850) he was a member of the second Prussian chamber for the constituency of Minden 3. In 1850 he was a member of the Volkshaus of the Erfurt Union Parliament .

He died of typhus at the age of 68 .

He married Johanna Charlotte Auguste Luise Bitter on October 1, 1832 in Berlin (* August 3, 1815, † January 12, 1897). The couple had several children:
