Alfons Proske

Alfons Proske (born January 12, 1881 in Ratibor in Upper Silesia , † August 7, 1950 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German administrative lawyer.

Life and work

After passing the state law examination and subsequent legal traineeship, Proske worked from 1910 to 1920 as a paid city councilor ( center ) in Racibórz . From 1920 he was employed as senior president's councilor in the Silesian Breslau .

In 1923 he was appointed head and regional president of the province of Upper Silesia with its seat in Opole . Until his replacement by the mayor of Hindenburg , Hans Lukaschek, in 1929, Proske was very keen to establish an independent development in Upper Silesia . The University of Wroclaw made him an honorary senator.

From 1929–33 he worked as a curator at the University of Bonn , where he was given leave of absence after the Nazis came to power and was decommissioned in 1934. After the end of the war he became a judge at the Freiburg im Breisgau district court .
