Gervasio Deferr
Gervasio Deferr Angel (born November 7, 1980 in Premià de Mar near Barcelona ) is the most successful Spanish artistic gymnast.
At the 1999 World Gymnastics Championships in Tianjin , he won silver in the floor exercise. A year later at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , he could not qualify for the final in floor exercise, but only for the final in horse jumping. With 9,712 points, he won gold and was the first Spanish gymnast to win an Olympic gold medal. The Spanish team won only before him in 1996 in rhythmic gymnastics.
At the World Gymnastics Championships in Debrecen in 2002 , he took second place in the floor exercise, but was later disqualified after traces of marijuana were discovered during the doping test. In 2004 he was able to successfully defend his horse jumping title at the Olympic Games in Athens with 9.737 points. At the 2007 World Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart , he won silver in the floor exercise. Deferr also won silver on the floor at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .
Deferr occasionally takes guest roles in Spanish television series in which he presents himself to his fans.
