Frank Josef Kriz (born March 26, 1894 in New York City , † 1970 ) was an American gymnast .
He won a gold medal in horse jumping at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris . However, the competition did not take place strictly according to international rules, rather the athletes had to cross a high jump bar in front of the jumping horse . His best placement four years later at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam was a seventh place in the team all-round competition.
In addition to his Olympic victory, Kriz was a total of five times American champion, namely in 1922 in the individual all-around, in the horse jump and on parallel bars and in 1924 in the individual all- around and in floor exercise . In 1959 he was inducted into the US Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
