Giles Lyndon Scott , MBE (born June 23, 1987 in Huntingdon ) is a British sailor .

successes

Giles Scott started in the boat class Finn-Dinghy at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . He won three out of ten races and finished four more among the top three competitors. Due to his lead, he was already the winner before the medal race and was Olympic champion ahead of Vasilij Žbogar and Caleb Paine . Scott had been the top gold favorite in the run-up to the Olympic regatta after having been unbeaten in regattas for two years. At world championships he won his first medal in 2010 in San Francisco with bronze. 2011 in Perth , 2014 in Santander , 2015 in Takapuna and 2016 in Gaeta he became world champion. In addition, he was European champion several times.

In 2013 he started for Luna Rossa in the America's Cup . For his Olympic success, Scott was made a member of the Order of the British Empire at the end of 2016 .
