Giulești [ ˈdʒiuleʃtʲ ] ( German  Ludwigsdorf , Hungarian Máragyulafalva ) is a municipality in the Maramureș district in northern Romania, consisting of four villages .

Geographical location

Location of Giulești in Maramureș County

Located on the Mara River, Giulești is on the DN 18 national road about 18 kilometers south of Sighetu Marmației . In 2002 the municipality had 3777 inhabitants, the village Giulești in the narrower sense 1291 inhabitants.

history

Excavations in Giuleşti show that the region was inhabited by Romanians even after it was first mentioned in 1199.

  • There is a wooden church in the village of Mănăstirea . It is of architectural and historical importance.
  • A special kind of attraction are the pots placed in the dead branches. With this, the family announces that a marriageable daughter grew up in their house and that the corresponding dowry is available.
